Pediment's principle exploration and development focus is on gold in Sonora and Baja California Sur, because of the region's: favorable geological environment for large gold deposits; generally pro-mining state governments and supportive local populations; and excellent infrastructure. Mexico, in general, has low fuel costs, low labor costs, and well trained technical workers.
The Mojave-Sonora mega-shear traversing southern California and northern Mexico hosts numerous world class disseminated gold mines, such as the Mesquite and Picacho mines (in California), and the Herradura, La Choya, Chanate and others (in Mexico).
The Company has been successful in creating a portfolio of prospective assets in this district and building ounces on advanced projects such as San Antonio and La Colorada. At San Antonio, we have identified a 43-101 compliant Measured and Indicated Resource of 1.53 million ounces and an Inferred Resource of 111,000 ounces of bulk tonnage (Giroux, 2009) shear zone hosted gold and acquired additional ground along the adjacent 7km long past producing El Triunfo trend. At La Colorada, we are exploring a 3km long trend of multiple past producing high grade underground and lower grade open pit gold mines, and have outlined a 43-101 compliant Measured and Indicated Resource of 605,000 ounces and an Inferred Resource of 582,000 ounces of gold (Giroux 2009). Both of these districts have seen little in the way of modern exploration and are highly prospective for the discovery of additional resources.
